The National Free Wills Network reaches major milestones

Today, we are delighted to celebrate two incredible milestones for the National Free Wills Network: more than an estimated £1 billion in future charitable income has now been pledged through Wills written via the Network; and 100,000 Wills written that include a gift to their sponsoring charity, with an average gift value of approximately £10,000.

Since its launch in 2008, the National Free Wills Network has helped thousands of charity supporters turn their kindness into lasting legacies. By connecting supporters with local solicitors, the Network has made it easier for people to write their Will and remember the causes closest to their hearts.

Every gift included in a Will is a personal and generous act. Together, these gifts represent thousands of thoughtful decisions to help charities continue their vital work, reach more people and create lasting change far into the future.

For member charities, this achievement is a reminder of the power of legacy giving. Gifts in Wills can be truly transformational, giving organisations of all sizes the resources to keep making a difference for generations to come.

Helping more people leave a lasting gift

The Network’s approach is simple and supportive. Charities invite their chosen audience to use the service, and they then receive details of participating solicitors in their local area as well as those offering remote appointments for people who are unable to make the journey to the solicitor’s office. The charity covers the cost of a simple Will, making the process free and accessible for the supporter.

This unique model of providing purely solicitor-written Wills, has helped people put their wishes in writing, often giving them peace of mind while opening the door to meaningful conversations about the difference a charitable gift can make.
